December 3, 2003. Zodiac Gaming at the Western Show in Anaheim presented the first application - a series of advanced games - which run off of the hard drive of the Scientific-Atlanta 8000 Series Set-Top Boxes. These games were profiled today inside the Scientific-Atlanta booth. As part of its effort to make the digital set-top box into a gaming console, Zodiac Gaming has developed a library of over 100 games with advanced sound, graphics, and game play. Some of the newest games offer 3D quality game play, previously not seen on a digital set-top box. "We are excited to introduce console level games to the digital set-top box," said Alexander Libkind, CEO of Zodiac Gaming. "The 8000 DVR boxes offer a unique opportunity to pre-load games to the set-top box, allowing for more complex gaming. This in turn will bring the set-tops into the realm of gaming consoles." As part of its exhibit at the Western Show and its participation in the Scientific-Atlanta booth, Zodiac profiled many of its advanced technologies for digital set-top boxes ranging from the 2000 to 8000 series.
